Orange Bowl Committee tabs StatBroadcast for 2013 Orange Bowl, BCS Championship

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. -- The Orange Bowl Committee and StatBroadcast Systems reached agreement today to use StatBroadcast's technologies and services as part of their 2012-13 bowl events. StatBroadcast will provide its StatBroadcast Live platform, StatMonitr media stats and stat monitors and on-site support at the 2012 metroPCS Orange Bowl Classic basketball event, the 2013 Discover Orange Bowl and the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game in Miami, Florida this winter.

The metroPCS Orange Bowl Classic is an annual college basketball event that features top-tier teams in a doubleheader days before the Orange Bowl football game is played. In its 19th year, the Orange Bowl Classic is played at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida and will take place on December 29, 2012. This year's event will feature the Florida Gators versus the Air Force Falcons in one game and the Florida State Seminoles versus the Tulsa Hurricanes in the second game.

The Discover Orange Bowl is celebrating its 79th anniversary this year and has been played annually since 1935. It is the second-oldest bowl game in the country and is a member of the Bowl Championship Series. The 2013 Orange Bowl will feature the ACC Champion versus an at-large BCS selection and will be played on January 1, 2013. The Orange Bowl is played at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The Discover BCS National Championship Game will be played on January 7, 2013 at Sun Life Stadium and will feature the No. 1 and No. 2 teams as ranked in the final BCS poll of the regular season. This will mark the 20th time the national champion has been hosted by the Orange Bowl and is officially the fifth national championship game to be hosted by the Orange Bowl (The Orange Bowl served as the BCS Championship in 2001 and 2005, and hosted the 2009 BCS National Championship Game; as part of the Bowl Coalition, the Orange Bowl also hosted the national title game in 1993 and 1994). This will be the final time the BCS National Championship Game is played at the Orange Bowl, with the current postseason structure expiring in 2014.

This year for the first time, StatBroadcast Systems will be partnering with all five BCS bowl games. In total, StatBroadcast is partnering with 14 bowl games during the 2012-2013 postseason.
